“The Laird”

from "Excursions" by ddb

about

For a mountaintop as this, how such a long time has passed and The Laird began to scrape loudly, stimulating the air around it to life! The appearance of and the actual thing simultaneously? They'd split up ye meek mind of any one who sees the last sign of heat. I can send thee under the earth! While Orchid Party were busy telling their own stories in quarters; The Laird had shifted again from behind and almost caught on fire! We woke up screaming and knew we had just been stranded in the middle of a snow storm. During this time I watched a snake (unnamed) getting into the woods out by Id'nic River. It was one of those critters, that usually mates at the river, but was surprised to be forced into the woods where it would either die, or find another morsel to eat. Of course, as soon as it was discovered, it made off. On the return trip, my party saw a small bright object sticking up from the ground just past the hills. I made a note of its location, and informed the other parties of it.
